Ten Vital Representations in Primary Maths

25 per cent of primary-aged pupils in a sample size of 1408 pupils were considered by their teachers to have arithmetic problems (Ramaa and Gowwramma, 2002).Thus, developing a strong sense that a number can relate to concrete numerical qualities which can translate into visual mathematical images, which can develop abstract mathematical thinking, is vital in developing mathematical ability. This course uses educational aids which will arrest the difficulties that the learner will face in understanding the application of number and how to apply mathematical concepts.
