Parents are at their most vulnerable when their child is struggling. They want information, and they trust experts to tell them what is wrong and to give advice about how they can make it better. But they need to be very careful about finding the information they desperately seek and the advice they fervently want: there is an art and a science to testing, and results are not always what they seem. My first experience with testing was as a parent, not as a professional, and it was an experience I will always remember.
