Best practices in identifying, teaching, and supporting students with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder - Allyson Harrison

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common neurodevelopmental disorders encountered in the school system. As a teacher, it is often difficult to know how best to identify and support students with ADHD, especially when they present with co-occurring disorders like Anxiety. More than this, it is often impossible for teachers to differentiate whether symptoms of inattention, restlessness, and emotional dysregulation are due to ADHD as opposed to being caused mainly by other “ADHD mimics”. This symposium will review information regarding how best to identify ADHD in teens and young adults.
