Linking Facts & Concepts: Basic facts to ‘long’ Multiplication & Division - How to use Visualisation

This is one of series of lectures by the international expert on Dyscalculia and Maths Disorder - Steve Chinn, which will enable both teachers and assessors to improve their knowledge of teaching maths. Themes running through the course will be ‘effective communication’ and the use of visual images to enhance understanding.

Professor Chinn will address the following issues: teaching the basic facts by linking the operations and by using visual images for number and by using partial products from key numbers. This will be extended to long multiplication and division. The development of an understanding of fractions by using visualisations
