The Importance of Vocabulary in Classroom Learning: Issues and Strategies for Learners in Secondary and Continuing Education

Over the last ten years, there has been increasing recognition of the importance of vocabulary knowledge in influencing learning. This event has been designed to offer tutors, support assistants and specialist teachers working in secondary and continuing education. We will discuss areas in which vocabulary plays a critical role in a student's management of the learning environment and reading. In the afternoon, participants will consider strategies for supporting learners with weak vocabulary skills from KS3 through to further and higher education.
