Dyslexia: The Phonology-Reading Disconnection Hypothesis: Why It Doesn’t Tell the Whole Story!
research from neuroscience and cognitive psychology over the last 10-15 years has shown us that dyslexic difficulties vary in degree and expression, and they commonly co-occur with other learning disorders; these findings do not fit comfortably with the phonology-reading disconnection hypothesis which assumes that brain regions and cognitive functions are separate and independent of each other. This webinar will explore how we have been forced to rethink our causal hypotheses of dyslexia to take account of moderator and co-occurring variables that create individual differences, and which do therefore impact the expression and outcome of the disorder.
